What do you do if you want to find a new lipstick color but have no idea how to attack a lipstick tower with hundreds of colors in every shade? Just start putting colors that you like on the back of your hand. Don’t start with your lips, you’ll just get frustrated and walk away with nothing. So keep swatching colors on the back of your hand until one hits you and you say to yourself “ooh, that’s pretty” What’s happening is that you have hit a color that is complementary to your own skin tone and will look pretty when actually on your lips. Now keep going until you get a second or third choice. Then move to the mirror. You’ll definitley head home with one to three new lipsticks and feeling pretty proud of yourself that you battled the lipstick tower and won.

So yesterday I was drooling as I watched the creations by Donatella for H&M  come down the runway. For once in my life I am moved to camp outside of an H&M store to buy original knockoffs. Apparently ADR shares my affinity for Versaces’ beer-budget line. It’s gorgeous. The video floors me because the show was only a day or two ago and here is our favorite self-described style victim with a completed video of herself in  all the best pieces. In a previous blog-life I reported two days after the fact that Carine Roitfeld had resigned from French Vogue in December of last year. I also made a strong prediction that Carine would soon resurface with her own magazine.  (link above) The magazine has yet to be named nor  have details of the staff been announced. All that’s known is that it will be quarterly, actually in print and written in English! Mdme Roitfeld jokes that she may want to go “Oprah” and put herself on every cover.  Um…maybe just the first issue  but after that we want you to unleash the rock-n-roll fashion brilliance that is you with one amazing supermodel after another on the cover. Bring us the CocoChanelLaraKate cover we have always wanted!!!

It is possible that you think you know fashion and still may not know who June Ambrose is but as of early 2012 that will change. Ms. Ambrose who styles the biggest names in the music industry has been given the green light for her own reality show on VH1. Immediately we think of another favorite stylist over on another network but the two style mavens are so different that there is absolutely room for televised success for both. While RZ scrambles during the Oscar’s and the Emmy’s, is worrying about balancing life and new-found motherhood; Ms. Ambrose has children who often accompany her to major fashion shows and her clients are concerned with the Grammys and the AMAs

The world needs and really wants to know how other major stylists work and navigate their way through their own fashion worlds and maybe this one will be a bit more..ahem..real, turbans and all.
